We're forming a band consisting mostly of classmates to play a set of songs from the 70's. If you're interested in joining us, let one of us know. So far, we have Roy Vogt and Mark Fishback on bass guitar, Pete Rainone and Jeff Cannon (possibly) on drums, Randy Stockum, Kevin Simmons, Mark Liberato and Bryan Sawyer on guitar, Suzie Grubb Rinn and Mickey Bryce on keyboards and vocals, Tom Clarke on vocals, and Cheryl Taylor-West Carroll on percussion. Don't worry about duplicate instruments, the more the merrier! We're also looking for a few more vocalists, male and female. Don't be shy, join us on stage. It's going to be a blast!
I didn't realize we had a class full of such talented musicians, can't wait to hear what we come up with! Of course we'd love to have the most famous of us all on stage with us, Ronnie Cabal, but he'll be there in spirit!
Below are a few videos of Ronnie playing with George Strait and the Ace in the Hole Band in 1982 at Austin City Limits, enjoy!
Every Time You Throw Dirt On Her
The New Never Wore Off My ol' Lady
We have yet another true professional musician amongst us, and that is Roy Vogt! Roy will be on stage with us at the reunion!
When you Google Roy's name, you'll find pages and pages, and website after website dedicated to his career. He's played with the likes of Dickey Betts (Allman Brothers Band), Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins, Engelbert Humperdinck, B.J. Thomas, Sweethearts of the Rodeo, and on and on!
Roy even has his own signature series bass guitar with his name on it!
Click HERE to watch a video interview of Roy by Bass Musician Magazine.
Roy with Sweethearts of the Rodeo in 1986.
Engelbert Humperdink at the London Palladium in 2000. (Be sure to watch Roy's solo!)
Jerry Reed in 1992
Joanna Dean in 1985 (Yes, that's his real hair!)
The idea of a band consisting of classmates has really gone over well, thank you Roy for the brilliant idea! It's gone over so well that we have decided to add a second set! We will not interfere with visiting time, so the second set will not start until we get towards the end of the evening, we'll make the decision of when to start at that time.
We're still looking to add singers (especially female), and we'd love to add more musicians, so please don't be shy, join us for what is sure to be a memorable evening!
7:00 PM - The Band Begins (1st set)
